A Baker's Dozen

Well, I never thought I'd be talking about my eggs and a baker's dozen in the same sentence, but that's what happened. My egg retrieval was yesterday and in the end all went well and they got 13 eggs. It was a little bit of a drama but I didn't find out how much until after I talked to my DH...

I was put under general anesthetic for the procedure so was out cold. Although, they said that it was the type that kept me conscious enough to talk to them during the procedure but that I wouldn't remember anything afterwards. I definitely don't remember anything. Weird how they can just give you amnesia if they want...lol

Anyway, back to the story. DH told me afterwards that when they first went in, they aspirated a few follicles and only found one egg. Then they were worried that I hadn't taken my trigger injection. They stopped and tried to locate my DH so that they could ask him if I had. He said yes and they went back in to try again...13 eggs later, it was all fine in the end, just a rocky start.

The bit I do remember is when I woke up in the recovery room afterwards, they asked me if I had any pain and I said yes whilst tears were rolling down my cheeks. Then they asked me on a scale of 1 to 10, how bad was it. I said 8. They gave me some morphine and it all was better. EXCEPT for the fact that after they gave me the morphine, I had an allergic reaction to it and got skin welts. Nothing ever goes smoothly with me, I tell ya...lol

Anyway, the welts have pretty much disappeared now. All is well again. It's a day later now and I'm still in a bit of pain, but am popping tylenol/panadol for it. It kinda feels like my uterus is free floating at the moment...lol It's just weird. I certainly wouldn't want to go through this on a regular basis. I hope enough of the eggs fertilise so that I can just use frozen ones for the next two times if this cycle doesn't work.

*deep breath*...At least the worst part is over now. I should find out this morning some time how well my eggs are fertilising, if at all. Crossing my fingers!
