is what happened...
On February 5th at 2am I woke up and felt like I had to go pee. I went to get out of bed and suddenly realised that I couldn't hold it in. Once I stood up, I realised that my water broke when I felt a sudden gush of liquid escape. Obviously I was in a bit of a daze. It was too early to have my baby, so I had to analyse the liquid to see if it really was amniotic fluid or if I really did pee myself...lol I came to the conclusion that it was definitely my water, and I woke my husband and told him the news. He was a bit sleepy and didn't believe me at first. Once I went to the bathroom, he leaned his head over the bed and took a closer look. He finally believed me.
I called the hospital and told them and they told me to come over and they would have a look. We got to the hospital by 3am. Once there, they strapped me up and started measuring the baby's heartrate and checking for contractions. I didn't have any contractions at this point and the baby was happy as could be. They decided to move me to a room and admit me for bed rest. They also gave me some drugs to help keep my contractions from coming. They didn't work...
At 4am I started to have my first set of contractions. The drugs weren't working. At 6am I started hard labour. The drugs still weren't working. At 7am I was ready to push. The drugs didn't work.
By this time, I was in a heck of a lot of pain. First of all, everything happened too fast to get any pain drugs. Second of all, the baby was breach. Third of all, the nurses kept telling me to hold it in and breathe....DON'T push, they said. They wanted to wait for the doctor to get there so she could analyse the situation and decide on the best course of action.
Near 8am the doctor finally made it. They rushed me to a birthing suite and she checked the position of the baby. She was bum down. After sticking what felt like her whole arm up my wazoo, she wrestled with the baby to grab her feet and pull them out. I was screaming in pain at this point. Once the baby's feet were out she told me to push on the next contraction. I was happy to finally be able to. All it took was one push and out she came, placenta and all. Talk about a speedy delivery!
Jolie weighed 4 pounds 3 ounces and was 17 inches long. She has brown hair with blonde eyelashes and eyebrows. The nurses think that she will probably turn out to be a blondie.
